Somewhere in New Zealand, April 2012.
Spectacular windswept mountaintop photo stop en route to Puzzling World. Wasn't it weird how in the space of a couple of weeks we went from baking in the sun in Australia to foraging for firewood to keep out the frosty chill in Craig and Laura's cabin? Felt like going from Summer to Winter without travelling all that far.
Great sweater that, RIP. We hardly knew ye'.
Helsinki, June 2013.
That time we went to Seurasaari and saw less squirrels than we'd hoped for but loads of little geese and ducks and a massive swan. Don't think this was taken on the island but it's somewhere nearby. O! Summertime!
Viljandi, June 2014.
Kicking off honeymoon part one with some ruined castle action. Not pictured - Swing of the Year 2014 award winner.
Auckland, May 2012.
The day we took a boat across the bay and met an 'interesting' man in a charity shop and saw a big gun up a hill. This was also the day that you didn't believe nasturtiums are a real thing.
Wilson's Prom, April 2012.
Not so much walking away as standing enjoying a spectacular vista. That was one of the most stunning places I've ever seen, pretty grim camping experience but worth it for next time someone asks 'Have you ever clapped a wild wombat and seen ants an inch long while doing your laundry in a rainforest?'
Aegina, April 2013.
'The road goes ever on and on'. What a place, look at that sea. I always forget that your hair used to be that short, made you look tough.
Madrid, July 2014.
Saying 'So long' to Madrid after a pleasant few days. Just time for a quick brain thinkin' about the turtles.
Virrat, October 2013.
The first of a fair few beach based photos on this website. Not the nicest weather though, I'd love to go back here in the Summer, it were right nice.
Dubai, May 2012.
Enjoying a market during naptime. That guy is having a wee snooze on a barrow to get his energy up for a long evening of aggressive salesmanship! Pretty sure this was the day you haggled your way into possession of a cheap dress. One of my favourite Pihla garments, awfy bonnie!
Vilnius, July 2014.
Vilnius. Land of beautiful architecture, folk dancing and accidental dessert pelmenis (and me being a drunken nugget and pouring coffee on myself!) Thanks again for saving my bacon, I still feel bad about that night.
Queenstown, April 2012.
That day we went to see the Alpacas. Cool beasts but one of the most anti-climatic animal feeding experiences of all time! The walk back into town was great, felt like we were in a Western film or something. Pretty sure this was the day we met a wee cat and a dog down at the lake too, remember that?
Johanna Beach, April 2012.
Two Johanna's of extreme natural beauty! I know this wasn't your favourite part of this trip but it was a pretty spectacular place and it meant a lot to me to be there with 3 of my favourite people in the World. Bonus points for most brutal morning coffee ever consumed!
Helsinki, September 2014.
I might have the date wrong, this was the day we were flyering for your English speaking group. This library is insanely cool. It looks like it belongs in the original series of Star Trek and that's the highest compliment a piece of architecture can receive.
Tarragona, July 2014.
Staring at a man with a palm tree growing out of his head like a middle aged woman on a commuter train...
Tarragona was great, I'll forever remember it as the place that got me over my long standing hatred of swimming at the beach. In your face, St Andrews!
Queenstown, May 2012.
Saying 'Cheerio' to the South Island. Best flight ever, so mountainous!
Is it just me or is there something much more enjoyable about entering an airplane by the stairs rather than the pipe thing? Shame for the planes though, they don't get to sniff the building.
Riga, October 2011.
The photograph that started the collection. Our first holiday together, who'd have thunk the next time we were there it'd be on our honeymoon? This was a really nice walk after a hearty breakfast in the company of a bread toucher. You went to the hotel and napped afterwards and I went to look at football stadiums. Pretty ideal day for both of us!
Barcelona, July 2014.
If it wasn't for the disabled access ramp this would look like a tropical island paradise. Walking with your arms out for maximum tan. Wonderful wee bit of multi-tasking!
Dubai, May 2012.
A big name meeting a big and totally pointless tower. Dubai was a horrible place but all my memories of it are really happy (apart from the time we nearly dehydrated to death - stay tuned for that!), weird conflicting feels.
Wanaka, April 2012.
When we got that maze absolutely telt. Teamwork makes the dream work.
I'd wanted to go to this place for about 6 years and had wanted to do a maze since I was about 5. Being able to do both at once with you was beyond ideal. Dreeeeeeams can come true. Lot of dream chat in this comment.
Vilnius, July 2014.
You and the locals hanging about up a hill. Out of the thousands of photos I've taken in my life, this might be the best one. The Palace of Concerts and Sports is looking particularly lovely.
Echuca, April 2012.
There were a lot of steamers in this town, none more so than Kris! One of the Northern Hemisphere's most missed names. Was there a shop in this town with a cat in it or have I imagined that?
Madrid, July 2014.
'This new station is looking pretty cool, guys. Feels like it needs a finishing touch though, any ideas?'
'Giant disembodied baby's head rendered in stone?'
'Boom, nailed it. Pub?'
Helsinki, June 2012.
Having a peek at a festival. Pretty sure this was some sort of latin dance thing. Back when Helsinki was still a new and confusing place!
Auckland, May 2012.
Auckland again. This was a cool beach, I remember sitting and making some shell art (so over...). For some reason the walk from Oulunkylä to Pikkukoski always reminds me of this place. No idea why.
Dubai, May 2012.
After we ate all the food then went across the river on a wee boat. Don't remember going underground at any point. I'm guessing this was either a subterranean souk or a station for a train with no driver.
Amsterdam, July 2014.
That time we were going to go into Amsterdam but then dinghied it because it was a stupid idea. Since we met we must've spent at least 2 days in total hanging about in airports. This one had the best supermarket snack selection.
Queenstown, April 2012.
Outside Craig and Laura's wee cabin. Such a lovely place. Fergburger, a mechanical bull, fire tending and learning a disappointing lesson about seaweed salad.
Athens, April 2013.
Another olden days bit. Not sure where this was exactly but I think it was the day you picked up a tortoise. There's quite a lot of wild animal touching on our trips!
Ivalo, March 2013.
Not really walking away, more catching me taking your picture while walking perpendicular. Wanted to include the Lapland Odyssey in this collection though. Such cold, many freeze!
Viljandi, June 2014.
Honeymooning in provincial Estonia. I really enjoyed that train journey, would love to go and visit some of the small villages we passed through on the way.
Otago Peninsula, April 2012.
Looks like you're trekking through the desert. This was a great day, watching sealions mucking about then getting really angry at the penguin idiots.
Barcelona, July 2014.
Public art in Barcelona. Think this was the night we got there, when we saw that jazz trio in a little square. They were really, really good but slightly less entertaining than watching a small nugget chasing a bottle round a different square the next night!
Dubai, May 2012.
We were looking for some sort of souk but got fed up because it was too hot. I'm sweating just looking at you wearing a cardigan in 40 degree heat!
Melbourne, April 2012.
That art gallery in Melbourne that I'm pretty sure we never went into because it cost money. Remember the really disappointing one we went to instead? Maybe Australians are too happy to make valid art.
Tarragona, July 2014.
Investigating that eco-park place on a quest to buy a suitcase so we could take treats and alcohol home. Pretty interesting but needs more wildlife.
Vilnius, July 2014.
The evening we walked to the abandoned football stadium then along by the river with all the people sitting on the embankment. This was taken next to the derelict Soviet era planetarium. I did this same walk on my own when I went back there the next month and felt really sad, it was like getting a glimpse of a parallel universe where you weren't in my life. Doing stuff without you is 90% less fun.
Athens, April 2013.
Exarcheia, the Athenian Kallio (but with better white russians, more overtly political graffiti and drunken taxis home that don't bankrupt you!)
Somewhere, Finland. June 2012.
My first Juhannus experience and the first time I ever stayed up all night without seeing the sun go down. Trying to sleep outside wrapped in a mosquito net in the blazing heat was pure misery, let's write it off as a character building exercise!

Auckland, May 2012.
This was the place where we met a small Beagle and talked to it's humans. The only other thing I remember was that there were loads of coloured plastic chairs dotted about. All other memories overwritten by Beagle interaction. Understandable.
Spain (middle thereof), July 2014.
Trans-Spanish bus trip. As you know, long bus journeys are not in my list of favourite things but this one didn't bother me. Not sure why since you were totally not into it. Was pretty cool to see the Spanish countryside though, t'was all new to me.
Dubai, May 2012.
So souky! This was like finding an oasis in the desert (literally!) Never needed a drink so badly before. Such an odd place, a really sanitised tourist version of Arabian Nights or something. Shame we weren't allowed onto the beach, just couldn't get access!
